DRAOI is the Discourse Research Association of Ireland — a growing network of scholars who study discourse in all its forms. Whether you’re based in Ireland, research discourses of or about Ireland, or simply feel a connection to the island, there’s a place for you here.

We take a broad, generous view of what discourse studies can be. Whatever your focus — conversation, media, politics, identity, language in everyday life — you are welcome in DRAOI.

Since 2021, DRAOI has grown to over 300 members across Ireland and beyond. Our embers span every career stage and circumstance, from postgraduate researchers to established academics, and we’re committed to keeping the network open, supportive, and genuinely inclusive.

Throughout the year we bring members together through our Summer Seminar Series, newsletter, and blog — providing opportunities to share work, swap ideas, and build connections across the field.
